The Hiding Place

This summer I happened upon a copy of The Hiding Place, the story of Corrie Ten Boom as told by John and Elizabeth Sherrill. It has quickly become one of my favorite books ever.

Many of you know who Corrie Ten Boom is, and many more of you (like me) recognize her name and know she's a special lady but can't exactly remember why. You might have seen a quote of hers here or there. In reality, not just Corrie, but the whole Ten Boom family deserves our attention and admiration.

The Hiding Place is a biographical work depicting how the Ten Booms came to shelter Jews in Holland during World War II - a heroic service that cost several of the family members their lives at the hands of the Nazi regime. Corrie survived and lived to tell a tragic yet beautiful story of God's goodness, forgiveness, and salvation.

There are so many lessons to be learned from this story and many of them have left a profound imprint upon my heart. I hope to share some of them with you, but I highly recommend you read The Hiding Place personally.

One of Corrie's trademark lines is this:

"There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still."

I needed to hear that today, and maybe you do too.
